Why is the DPF cleaning the optimal solution?
Every driver, who has a diesel vehicle with a particulate filter, is aware of or has encountered the particulate filter wear and has looked for different solutions to this problem. In the worst case, the particulate filter is removed, which has a negative effect on the environment and creates air pollution. The great news is that the harm to the environmental pollution is finally being limited and it has been decided that the vehicle would not be allowed to pass the technical inspection, if the particulate filter is removed.
“Removing the diesel particulate filter shall not be permitted and shall be controlled during the annual technical inspection of vehicles. The good news is that you can check during the technical inspection whether this particulate filter is installed or removed. If it is removed, then it is assessed as a defect and the car owner will not receive the technical inspection sticker,” comments Jānis Liepiņš, Head of the Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD) Vehicle Control and Certification Inspectorate. There are only three solutions left to pass the technical inspection:
- Buy and replace a new particulate filter;
- Start thinking about buying a new vehicle, switch to petrol or electric cars;
- Particulate filter cleaning.
Purchasing a new particulate filter could cost from 500.00 € (non-original) – 3000 € (original) and about 100-250 € for the replacement of a particulate filter. Also, not for everyone buying a new car would be the most advantageous option until the next technical inspection. Therefore, we offer the most optimal option – efficient cleaning of particulate filter.
We offer efficient particulate filter cleaning, as well as a 1-year warranty. The results are visible after the first cleaning. For more information on the results of particulate filter cleaning see 👉 here.
What is the price of particulate filter cleaning?
The particulate filter cleaning is offered for several types of vehicles:
- for passenger cars – 121 €,
- for trucks – from € 295,
- for buses – from 295 €,
- for tractors – from 295 €

VIDEO – cleaning of a particulate filter (DPF) of a KIA
This is a particulate filter (DPF) of a KIA. Judging by what comes out of the filter, it is obvious that the filter has previously been chemically cleaned without removing the filter from the car. But such cleaning was unsuccessful, so the filter was brought to us.
We cleaned this particulate filter (DPF) of a KIA. The customer called the next day and was happy that the car consumed less fuel and had more power.

Why you should not remove the particulate filter (DPF)?
Unfortunately, there are still such car service centres, which recommend to remove a clogged particulate filter. No filter – no problem. But we do not recommend doing so under any circumstances. Why to remove it, if it can be cleaned? The removal may still be considered “old school”, from the days when it was not possible to clean, or there was a lack of information about particulate filter cleaning.
It is understandable, that removal was more popular than the replacement of filter, as buying a new filter is a considerably expensive measure. But now, when gentle particulate filter cleaning is available, removal is no longer relevant. Moreover, particulate filter removal is prohibited by the law, and removing the particulate filter may result in a fine.
What problems may arise, if the particulate filter is removed?
1. Interference with the car design and electronics occurs when the DPF is removed. If afterwards the car encounters another technical problem, you will probably no longer be able to take the car to an authorized dealer for repairs, as there would be an interference with the control unit.
2. Cars with the removed particulate filter have increased emissions, which is very harmful to nature, the environment and human health.
3. It is prohibited by law, and removing the particulate filter may result in a fine. In Europe, penalties are already rather high (for example, in the United Kingdom – around 1000 pounds, in Poland – currently around 120 EUR). Special raids are held to check vehicle particulate filters. And exactly the same situation is expected to be in Latvia, if not today, then tomorrow.
Why damage the vehicle, remove its parts, pollute the environment, if the particulate filter can be cleaned? Filter cleaning takes only 1 hour for cars (price 120 EUR), and 2-3 hours for buses, trucks and tractors (price from 360 EUR – depending on the size).

Particulate filter clogged up? 3 factors that accelerate clogging of a particulate filter (DPF)?
1. Urban environment. This means that short distances are regularly driven at low engine speeds. Therefore, there is not enough power to clean the particulate filter. In this case, it is recommended to go for a 20-minute drives at higher speeds from time to time. For example, on the Jurmala highway from Riga to Jurmala.
2. Poor quality fuel. The particulate filter (DPF) can clog faster if low-quality fuel is used, which contains various chemical impurities that do not disappear when the soot burns, but settles on the filter. The higher the quality of the fuel used, the longer the DPF stays clean.
3. Technical damages. Your vehicle’s particulate filter may be clogged due to some technical damages of the vehicle. There may be a damaged engine, there may be problems with the valves, with the injection system, turbines. Due to various technical faults, the self-cleaning process of the filter may not commence.
Therefore, before cleaning the particulate filter, we definitely recommend you to perform diagnostics in at a reliable car dealership. Prevent problems in the event of a technical damage and prevent accelerated clogging of the DPF.

Particulate filter clogged up? How to know that a DPF or a particulate filter is clogged?
Particulate filter clogged up?
Most likely, a special indicator will light up on the panel, informing you about it [you can see what it will look like in the photo below].
And you will definitely feel some of these changes:
- You will feel that the power of the vehicle has decreased.
- You will run out of fuel faster than usual.
- Your vehicle engine will no longer start up easily.
- Your car may have problems with the turbocharger.
- You will feel an unusual odour.
If the DPF of your vehicle has never been cleaned, at some point your car may even stop and no longer start.
To avoid such problems, it is recommended to clean the particulate filter every 250 000 – 300 000 km of mileage.
